These textile vineswere created for the first part of a day dedicated to equal parts protest for and celebration of nature in Denmark. The event took place on the 12th of June 2022. The main organisers were the Copenhagen-based associations Amager Fælleds Venner, Nordhavns Naturvenner, Fiskerihavnens Venner and Stop Lynetteholm. The event was supported by a long list of co-signers from all over the country.
The day was kicked off with a walk through a public park in Copenhagen, where the activists were joined together by holding the textile vines creative for this purpose. All the materials were repurposed from other projects.
This bit of creative activism was a part of my project on creating political change with creativity, which included a course in grassroots organizing at Harvard University’s Kennedy School and was funded by The Danish Arts Council.
